Sina received a Fellowship Award

Sina Askari had been awarded a prestigious fellowship from the UC Irvine Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program sponsored by the Broadcom Foundation for one academic year to conduct a research in Internet of Things (IoT) with connected health. The fellowship is award annually between UCI and UCLA Ph.D. students, both of whom have engineering schools named for Broadcom founder Henry Samueli, in support of joint research initiative in IoT edge devices and smart devices.

Alexandra received a Fellowship Award

Alexandra Efimovskaya has been awarded the Amelia Earhart Fellowship for 2016 year. The fellowship is awarded annually to 35 talented women, pursuing Ph.D./doctoral degrees in aerospace-related sciences or aerospace-related engineering and who demonstrate a superior academic record in the field.

Yusheng received Holmes Fellowship

Yusheng Wang had been awarded a Holmes fellowship under department of mechanical and aerospace engineering to be working on the project title: “Navigation Grade Micromachined Rate Integrating Gyroscopes” during winter 2017 and spring 2017.

Hosting of the IEEE Panel

On July 7th-July 8th, 2016, Prof. Shkel hosted at UCIrvine the Summer meeting of the IEEE Gyro and Accelerometer Panel (GAP). The panel has been engaged for more than 50 years in creating standard terminology, specification formats, and test procedures for detection or measurement of linear or angular motion.

Congratulations to Andreu Fargas on successful Ph.D. Defense

Andreu Fargas in November 2015 successfully defended his Ph.D. Thesis titled “Energy Efficient Control of Electrostatically Actuated MEMS”. He completed his work at the University Polytechnic De Catalunya. Andreu is a part of the Microsystems Lab family, where he completed his Master Thesis work in 2001. Congratulations to Dr. Fargas!
